Our story

I am Deb C.  You can call me Debbie.  I am a single mother, living in stunning British Columbia, Canada with my teenage boy.

We are survivors of domestic abuse and the journey to recovery has been incredible.  Not just regular incredible but so incredibly incredible that we can celebrate today and every day simply that we are alive at all.

 – 2006 business owner, beautiful home, terrible relationship

 – 2010 crappy job, destroyed home and relationship.  So broken that I couldn’t even speak without crying

 – 2012 still fighting in court, bankrupt, food banks

 – 2018 can’t pay bills, almost homeless

 – 2022 wonderful job, well on my way to financial independence, blessings abound, a great kid, no contact from the father since 2012

I’ve been asked to share my story so many times that I figured it was time to do just that.  I hope that you find some hope and inspiration in these pages.

My dream for you

I know that the early parts of my story are way too common for women today and my sincere hope is that, by telling my story, I can help even one person to navigate through the rocky waters of divorce.

My goal is to share the steps that I took to move us from poverty to prosperity, from fear and shame to hope and celebration.

Maybe this can help you too.

Your story will be different than ours, but I’ve learned that there are some commonalities that are pretty unavoidable.

Once you are able to come through to the other side of the hurt, there is so much joy and love in this world that you will be able to take a grateful posture and maybe even inspire those around you one day.
